Mastery Reviews

Ok. I know many of you aren't feeling too good about your examinations. Some of you claimed to have "screwed" up. But have you thought of one thing? Our result haven't even come out yet, what's more if our class really screws up, everyone will screw up too. If its' a difficult paper, it's not just one person that's affected, EVERYONE is. Embrace the comfort of knowing that you are not suffering alone!

What really matters now is not the final result, but the process of working hard to achieve. If you work hard, there's no way you can fail for sure. Studying ain't about getting the highest grades all the time, and when it comes to O levels, it doesn't matter whether you get 95 or 75, it's still an A1.

No matter what, just study hard, get your facts right, ask if you dunno and stay confident. Most importantly, don't sleep too late.

Hopefully FYE can save some of us.

=P

Good luck!

Like Yay me...i can post on this blog...hahahahaha...like several papers remaining...must do our best...make sure we don't lose to 3-1 (our new rivals...kind off i suppose)!!!!!! SO we must MOST DEFINITELY, INDUBITABLY, without fail, mug our hardest (like lailai. Oh and 1 more thing. Here's a poem to relieve everyone'stress. Ya, I hope it comes in helpful in achieving its purpose of helping all of you minds off e exam stress. Presenting the Forest Duo:

Forest

Chopped and burnt,
How you suffer so.
Bare trees stand now,
In a land forsaken,
By those who initially inhabited it.
The air is sad,
Salty from tears.
Trees that lay in eternal grey darkness,
Never seeing light since many a year ago.
Alone in this world,
Comrades all dead.
Oh forest of despair,
Show me your desires.
Show me what you wish,
What you yearn for dearly.
All you want is life again,
To be part of the living,
To have them return to your side once again
From where they are now.
Wishing for the light to fill the void in your soul.
Which is empty and bare.
Stripped naked,
Thrust into the bed of dead black roses,
Those who step foot into the land feel the pain,
The thorns that have cursed the souls that reside here.
Bleed to death and become one with the land,
The land of the dead and grey,
Where it rains everyday.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Forest

The breath of god creates life,
In many forms.
In a stream of light,
The sound of water,
Plummeting heard throughout the land.

The long unnourished forest rejoices,
For this is the first within a long, long time.
Drink up now, children of the forest,
Take your fill, and much, much more,
Lest a new war begins.

The river nymphs sing,
Healing their wounds from their last battle.
Oh yes, be overjoyed,
For this will not last forever.
All good things will eventually come to an end.

Father and son,
Caught in the middle of their escapades.
Unable to escape unharmed.
He shields his head from the icy droplets,
Unwilling to be pelted.

Within minutes, thankfully,
They make their escape from the treacherous wild.
The odd thing is, even in the midst of their flight,
They escape unscathed,
Without a wound or scar to mark their experience.

Through the large forest with twist and turns,
His father navigates dexterously.
Beguiled the little one inquires,
His father but shrugs his shoulders,
Refusing to speak another word.

“Somehow, it seemed much more,
Different as compared to when I was young,”
His father mutters to himself.
The little boy bedazzled,
Mind pondering over his father’s astonishing words.

The rain is over,
The family safely home.
Back in the forest,
Little creatures emerge from their sanctuaries..

Little droplets rolling off the leaves,
Down to the base of the canopy.
The air is cool in the midst of night.
Must the sun come again soon?

In the distant a woman shrieks,
Nothing but stumps everywhere.
Fear and consternation,
Will anyone comfort her?

Her journey through life and suffering,
Simply beginning.
She came all this way,
To see but a barren wasteland with nothing but thrash?

Disheartened,
She turns and leaves,
Preparing to return,
From whence she came.

ERRATA ON SOCIAL STUDIES

For the question about Economical and Political impact, you are only required to write these 2 given factors. You should not talk about Social Impact. This is the advice that was given by Mr Fernandez when teaching 3-4 and Mrs Loh earlier in the year. This is only for questions that require you to compare between A and B. It's like if u compare A and B, C won't be relevant right?

Don't forget there's Heymath quizzes to be done.

And email Johnervan or Qin En for Social Studies notes. There's a new version by Andrew Lai as well.

English notes coming tomorrow. Ask Qin En tomorrow.

Updates from Teddy Nuts

Yo guys. MR3 is near...gotta start mugging. Please be aware NOT TO UPLOAD ANY NOTES up here on our class blog. Just because we share does not mean other classes gotta know....

For SS notes, if you cant find Johnny boy, look for me. email me for the notes. my email is laughingmaniaclives@yahoo.com.sg I will try to respond asap.

By the way, Mario a.k.a. the BEAST will be helping us with the English MR. he is going to do a template of the situational writing (what form I cant say, cos this is a blog and is public) and if you want it, request it from me. similarly, i cant upload on the blog for certain reasons which u n i certainly know. The situational writing template will be done by tomorrow according to MARIO, and contact me via email or sms for the template.

Once again, the above content should be kept confidential....we gonna FINISH THE FIGHT and still take the lead....

Math Mania

I dunno why but the school makes a huge emphasise on Additional Mathematics compared to other subjects. As such, Mrs Long has posted 4 quizzes on Heymath, on Remainder Theorem, Partial Fractions, Quadratic Equations and Logarithm Surds Indices.

All of the quizzes are due monday except Quadratic Equations, due tomorrow!

Apart from finding it a bit nonsensical, you ought to know it's good practice for the examination next week.

So there, study well for the Mastery Reviews and good luck!

CIP Prism Of Colours

For you guys out there wanting to rack up CIP hours, there's another CIP event which you participate in. Details as follows.

The programme is known as Prism Of Colours, which is a youth for causes project to raise funds for  Hope Centre, a voluntary welfare organisation by selling products such as notebooks and post-it pads at locations over Singapore, particularly Hougang Mall, Orchard, Ang Mo Kio, Tampines, Woodlands, Jurong, Esplanade, City Hall and Yio Chu Kang.

The sessions will be between 20th July and 31st August, mainly on Sundays, from 12pm to 4pm. Check the exact locations and schedules at this link. If you wish to participate, email prismofcolours08@yahoo.com.sg with your personal particulars and other info.

If you don't have the time to volunteer, at least you can make a contribution to the stall by purchasing their items, notebooks at $5 each, post-it pads $3 each and keychains $3. But you are strongly recommended to volunteer out there. Minimum commitment of 4 hours is required, as the stall operates longer hours on some days.

Homecoming + English Matters

Homecoming is tomorrow. The first good chance to have a whale of a time after our CL oral. Our stalls are in the back of the school canteen (quoted from Hong Yi). Make sure you know your shifts and be a bit flexible in timings. Remember to bring the 2 coupons u purchased unless you have sold them away. They'll come in real handy tomorrow. Those at the Satay Stall,  please take care of the BBQ Pits because they're purchased/rented by Mr Yong.

Please bring $15 on homecoming for class t-shirt!

Now for English.

You have one long weekend to do your homework. So there shouldn't be an excuse not to hand up your journals (the politics entry), comprehension and argumentative essays to me on Tuesday. Less than half of the class has done so as of today. Alternatively, if you're chionging last minute, put them directly in Mr Tan's pigeonhole.

Just a reminder, the politics entry is to be done on foolscap paper. Remember to go
www.okcupid.com/politics and do the politics quiz, then print out your result and staple it to the journal entry. Pass up on Tuesday, no compromise (unless you kena MC).

Rest & Relaxation Time

YAY!!!!!!!!!!

'O' LEVEL ORAL OVER!!!!!

Congratulations to those of you who managed to cough up everything we knew about the topic, but for those who didn't do so well, please don't be disappointed, you guys still have the other papers to catch up.

And, finally, after like the WHOLE June hols and first 1 1/2 weeks of term 3 dedicated to mugging, the orals are OVER.

Do take good care of yourselves as we R&R and conserve our energy for this Saturday's Homecoming. Drink lots of water. It HELPS.

Do take note as well that you guys ought to raid your wardrobe tonight and decide what to wear to school tomorrow, but whatever you're wearing, keep this in mind: BE YOURSELF.

Lastly, do remember that tomorrow we'll be released at 12pm to for Homecoming preparation.

Remember, R & R!!!

Cheers,
Joseph

Final Rush to the Distinction in Oral

Yeah..sorry guys...feel so guilty. Have not been to the class blog for the past month. ANyway, for the last 2-4 hours of preparation today, please remember the following whilst doing your oral preparation, and I hope that it will serve you well:

1. Remember to cover all aspects of possible topics, including news articles, society youth problems, government implementations. One VERY IMPORTANT ASPECT IS TO:

NEVER TRY TO GUESS WHAT WILL COME UP TOMORROW!!!

You do that and you are screwed inside out...I assure.

2. Make sure you are adaptable. To ensure your full versatility, tomorrow when you come to school, ask someone to random test you any topic, regardless if it is in the notes. Then try to see how well prepared you are.

3. If you feel you are not prepared, then prepare more; do more last minute work. MAINTAIN A POSTIVE ATTITUDE!

Remember this. This is the most important part of the post:

IF YOU GO IN TO THE SCHOOL HALL WITH THE MINDSET THAT YOU NOT GONNA DO WELL, YOU WILL NOT DO WELL.

Wish everyone all the best, and remember, your main purpose is to go up to the examiners, talk and show off your full capabilities.

All the best. xD

Qin En
